MY STORY

Born in New York City and raised in the town of Lawrence, MA, I have always felt a strong connection to Brooklyn. It was my second home filled with family, friends, and childhood summer memories. After earning my BFA in Fashion Design from The Massachusetts College of Art & Design, I returned to the city, claiming New York City as my home in May 2008.

My journey began as a little girl watching the women in my family dress for the world. Growing up Caribbean, the woman in my life took great pride in their appearance and attire. They were also seamstresses so it was only natural I followed in their footsteps to some capacity. I was so obsessed with fashion you could find doodling of designs behind my worksheets. I knew from young I would pursue fashion so I made it my goal to get into art school and major in Fashion Design. Upon graduating and moving to NYC shortly after, my best friend's mother introduced me to the talented designer Clark Sabbat. For over 13 years, I worked alongside him, gaining invaluable insights into the fashion industry and perfecting my draping skills. My initial goal was to dive directly into fashion design upon arriving in NYC. I faced challenges finding work in such a competitive market. During my freelance work in design and pattern making, I also gained experience in retail, starting as a visual stylist and eventually rising to a corporate creative project manager for 6 years. After being laid off due to the Covid pandemic, I seized the opportunity to pivot back to fashion, realizing how fortunate I am to have this time to pursue my passion. Two years post-pandemic, I joined my current employer as a 3D pattern maker.

Throughout my career in New York City, I've had the privilege of working with many skilled professionals across various fields. I recognize that there is still much to learn as I navigate different industries. I am a dedicated worker, a collaborative team player, and I eagerly receive new opportunities to learn and grow.
